- General Decorating Tips
At the outset of many decorating or redecorating projects, it is easy to get overwhelmed by the choices available, the ever-lengthening list of decorating rules, all the different styles and/or the current trends. When all is said and done, you won't be receiving an award or a grade; the most important thing is how YOU feel about the completed project.
Make the project your own! Rules should serve as a guideline that you tweak to add something only you can---your personality. For example, a collection of souvenirs from vacation on a bookshelf...vintage photos of family members on a plate rail...your children's artwork (no matter what their ages) in elaborate picture frames in the hallway. Get creative! Turn Grandma's button collection into a bouquet by adding florist's wire stems. All of these personal touches will bring back fond memories and start conversations as you entertain. Don't be afraid to make your space uniquely you!
