Make statements with your accessories

Have you ever wondered what the key is to arranging your belongings in your home, so that they make sense and at the same time look fabulous?  For example, nothing brings more interest and attention to objects than varying their placement at different heights.  When you see a buffet table at a restaurant - notice that the food and serving dishes are at various levels.  Usually fruit and fresh flowers are tucked here and there.  If the food was all displayed at one level, it would not look as appealing.

Treat your home accessories the same way.  Place accessories on the same plane and they look boring - landscape them at different heights and they are interesting.  Place them on books, pieces of lumber covered in fabric or painted.   Turn a vase upside down and put an accessory on it for a raised lift.  Family and friends visiting get the impression that there must be something special about your pieces if they are displayed so well.  Look at your curio cabinet or open shelving where you displayed a collection.  Have those shelves become a warehouse for additional items you collected thru the years?  What started out as just right, became a stopping off place for extra pieces and in the process became a cluttered and busy 'mess' with nothing being showcased.

Is it time to 'weed out' those unnecessary pieces and get back to what was intended?   Taking time to make wonderful statements throughout your home - displaying accessories with some thought makes all the difference!
