Holding on to summer a bit longer

As I watched my children head out the door for their first day of school, my thoughts could not help but stray to the impending change of seasons.  I'm not afraid to admit I'm not mentally ready;  I would love to cling to the season of the sun for just a bit longer.  For those of you hoping to brighten up your space for just a little while longer...here you go.

Remove dark lampshades and replace them with lighter ones.  Candlesticks can be changed from heavy brass or wood to something in glass or crystal.  Don't forget to put bright candles in place of dark ones...be sure to check out the new candles in our Accessorize department.  Throw pillows in a natural fabric will remind you of your favorite summer shorts.  How about rolling up that heavy rug and exposing wood floors or replacing it with something in sisal, very popular in outdoor floor coverings.  Heavy drapes can come down and make their annual trip to the cleaners so you can enjoy additional rays while they last.  While the drapes are down, it would be a great time to clean the windows one last time before we batten down the hatches.  Nothing brightens a room more than sparkly clean windows. Although the turning of the leaves may be inevitable, that doesn't mean you have to go down without a fight!
