For example, if you paint a mint green or sky blue on the walls of your bedroom it will give you a very peaceful, relaxed atmosphere. However, if you choose a bright red or an orange you might find it a little harder to sleep because of an association with the color. When we look at colors we associate them with feelings of warmth, coolness, activity, or emotion. Blue is universal for feeling calm. Green is generally happy. Red is exciting. Yellow is unisex and bright and sunny. Pink is hip and traditionally feminine.
