Decorating Challenge/opportunity: Sleep on a cold winter night
Our customers, a couple in their 90’s, were looking for a replacement for their sleeper sofa. Their family farm house has no heat upstairs so they sleep downstairs in the winter. The combination of their inability to open their current sleeper any more, and the uncomfortable mattress made the switch a necessity. They were hoping to replace it with a new daybed, but found that the models on our sales floor were just too large for the space. Our customers were resigned to “just living with” their uncomfortable, open sleeper sofa.
Brymons Solution: An inexpensive day bed
Our decorator noted the concern and resignation in the customers’ demeanor and asked to show them the new Click-Clack futons that had come in. This line is known for its ease of operation and there is an added benefit in that they take up less space than a daybed. The woman had seen futons before, but had been unable to operate them. Our decorator then demonstrated and allowed the customer to discover for herself how easy they are to operate…she also explained that the mattresses are thicker and firmer than traditional futons. Needing some time to think, our customers left to deliberate on the decision. A week later, they returned to purchase the Click-Clack futon and were thrilled that they would now have a comfortable place to sleep and a beautiful piece of furniture for daytime.
