Every room needs a little Black

BLACK...every room needs a little bit of black to ground its overall scheme. Black sharpens edges, silhouettes shapes and textures, and increases the eye's perception of depth by throwing the lighter tones into higher relief. Think of how a black frame sets off the colorful forms in a painting.
 
Consider the power of black as a backdrop when arranging your shelves or tabletop vignettes. Also consider how the impact of black will vary according to its shape and texture. Experiment with glossy ceramics, wrought-iron candle sticks or even black lamp shades.
 
Remember that a little black goes a long way. Too much darkness can make a display appear "moody", while a dash in the right place will brighten and sharpen a composition.
