Splashes of color are in

Monochromatic color schemes in warm earth tones may never go out of style but for those of us who are feeling a little more adventurous the trend this year is leaning towards splashes of color that don't apologize for being bold.  For example, a bedroom in crisp white and hunter's vest orange?  Your kitchen's stainless steel appliances that are becoming commonplace becomes less predictable when the walls are painted in a vibrant grape.  Start small and build your color statement. If you want to test the feel of cobalt blue; try adding a few accessories in this single bold color before you make a commitment to wall color.  Once the color makes it to the walls, don't forget that you may need to increase the number of fixtures to insure proper lighting.  Darker, richer colors can transform a dull space into an oasis.  So take the plunge.  It's only paint.
